About This Spot

Stepping into Trey Yuen feels like crossing into a quietly cherished local gem tucked just off Causeway Boulevard in Mandeville. The atmosphere carries a steady, inviting rhythm—unhurried yet bustling enough to remind you that this is a beloved neighborhood table where familiar faces and new guests gather. Here, the clink of chopsticks and soft conversations blend with the comforting warmth of well-worn booths and the subtle aromas of simmering broths, creating a space that encourages lingering over good food and easy company.

This is the kind of spot where dishes arrive thoughtfully composed, each plate telling a story not just of flavors but of care. The balance of savory and fresh, the gentle kick of spice, and the bright textures of seafood and vegetables speak to a kitchen in tune with both tradition and the tastes of the North Shore community. Whether it’s the delicate silkiness of the egg flower soup or the satisfyingly crisp edges of a honey pecan shrimp, the menu feels like an invitation to slow down and enjoy a moment’s escape into familiar yet crafted comfort.

What stands out beyond the food is the understated warmth with which guests are welcomed—servers who listen attentively and guide thoughtfully through options that respect dietary needs and preferences, making anyone feel at ease whether it’s a family gathering or a quiet dinner for two. There’s a down-to-earth hospitality here that’s shaped by years of steady neighborhood loyalty, the type you sense not from grand gestures but from those small, human moments repeated day after day.

For anyone ready to explore Chinese and seafood dishes with ease and sincerity, Trey Yuen offers a quietly steadfast experience—a place where the mood is as genuine as the flavors on the table, and where the simple joy of a shared meal is always within reach.

This is the first time in awhile that I've made the trip across the Lake to Trey Yuen. But I can happily say they still a great place to dine. The food was very good, especially the Egg Flower Soup, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend it.

I can't believe I have lived in Metairie area my entire life and ate here for the first time last week! This place is amazing all around! We went on a Sunday night and there was a 25 minute wait and now I know why. Once seated, Mary our server greeted us. I told her that I had to follow a gluten free diet then she proceeded to point out numerous dishes that are GF and could be made GF (even though the menu had most things already marked GF). The eggdrop soup was my app, delicious. Vegetable fried rice, perfect! And curry chicken in a delicious sauce with veggies, wow! Mary gave me additional sauces that were all GF. The portions are large, so you can definitely split dishes with someone else. I highly recommend this restaurant! Can't wait to go again! Oh, and the atmosphere was dark, but not too dark and really interesting to look at!

One of my favorite restaurants on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain. I've been coming here for 20+ years and it never disappoints. The restaurant, and the bathroom in particular, needs a renovation. The food today was good, not great. I had the soft shell crab special and my companion had the shrimp and eggplant special. Service was great.

We've been loyal customers since they were serving fried rice from a walk-up window! The food is fantastic. The service was great aside from the young woman who took payment for my to-go order. Not very personable, but the other young ladies at the door were great!

Some of the best Chinese I have had in a very long time! We had the flaming chicken dish. They lit it on fire at the table. Fun and delicious.

I moved from Northern Virginia to Louisiana 4 years ago. I have been looking for a Chiense restaraunt with good food but had no luck. I saw Trey Yuen on the side of the road on Memorial Day on the way to the lake. I kept it in mind. For Father's Day my family and I finally went and I was blown away. It was truly a magical and extraordinary culinary experience. I have found my favorite restaurant of all time. The food was the best Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. The General Tso's Chicken tasted authentic. Not like up north were it is made sweet. Everything was made from quality ingredients. All meats and vegetables were tender and just mouth watering goodness. My family and I sampled each others dishes and it all was just incredible. Everything about Trey Yuen was exceptional from the beautiful decor, to the atmosphere, to the top notch service. Before you leave make sure you also enjoy the outside of the restaurant as well. The grounds are just gorgeous with water features, koi fish and a beautiful waterfall. A true gem. If you want authentic Chiense cooking Trey Yuen is the place to go. All I can say is you have a customer for life!
